LANCASTER, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team fell 82-53 at Lancaster Bible on Wednesday night.
The Chargers scored the first seven points of the night and expanded their lead to 16 points midway through the first half. Brandywine steadily chipped into the LBC lead, trimming the margin as low as 10 points when Joey Brusha (Abington, Pa./Abington) canned a three-pointer with 40 seconds to go in the period, but the Chargers answered with a triple to lead 40-27 at intermission.
After Lancaster Bible used a 14-3 run to up their lead to 22, Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) and Austin McCaughan (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) combined for eight-straight points to bring the Lions' deficit to 56-42; however, that is as close as the Lions would get as Lancaster Bible pulled away late in the contest.
Jaden Fogg (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) paced the Lions with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Brusha tallied eight points and Dillon Jones (Wilmington, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) collected six points. McCaughan notched five points and five boards.
Lancaster Bible shot 53 percent from the field, while limiting Brandywine to 28 percent shooting. The Chargers also held a slim, 39-34 edge on the boards.
Brandywine (2-7, 0-2 United East) will play its first home conference game Saturday against Bryn Athyn at 3:00 PM.
