Brandywine Tops Abington For Second-Straight Win

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team picked up its second victory of the week, topping Penn State Abington by a score of 71-61 on Saturday afternoon.

Jaden Fogg (Morrisville, Pa./Morrisville) and Amari Little (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) combined for 41 of Brandywine's 71 points as Little poured in a game-high 24 points, while Fogg tallied 17 points along with eight rebounds.

Brandywine built an early 10-point lead when Joey Brusha (Abington, Pa./Abington) canned a three-pointer to cap a 7-0 spurt at the 12:33 mark of the opening half.

The hosts cut the margin in half, but back-to-back baskets from Jamar Wright (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) and Fogg, plus a Fogg triple, extended the margin back to double figures two minutes later.

The Lions held a 35-25 lead at halftime and pushed the edge to 14 points, their biggest lead of the afternoon, thanks to a Fogg jumper and two free throws from Dillon Jones (Wilmington, Del./Hodgson Vo-Tech) during the first 49 seconds of the second period.

Brandywine maintained its double-figure advantage until the six-minute mark when consecutive Abington baskets brought the margin to nine. Little answered with a bucket for the Lions, who continued to hold a 10-point lead until the final minutes.

Abington made one final push, closing the gap to just seven with 1:55 to go, but Little again had the answer, knocking down a floater in the lane to stop the Abington momentum. Four Lions combined to shoot 7-of-8 from the free throw line during the final 70 seconds to secure the victory.

Brandywine shot 44 percent from the field, while limiting Abington to 34 percent shooting, including a 2-of-20 mark from beyond the arc. The Lions also claimed a 38-32 edge on the boards.

Brandywine (6-17, 3-11 UEC) will close out its home slate on Tuesday when the Lions host Wilson at 7:30 PM.
