Brandywine Posts Strong Showing At Abington Invitational

ABINGTON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine cross country teams competed in their third invitational of the season, posting the strongest showing of the fall thus far, at the Penn State Abington Invitational on Saturday.

All seven of Brandywine's men's runners recorded personal bests as the Lions finished 13th in a field of 15 NCAA Division II and Division III teams.

Jack McDougall (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) topped the Lions, turning in a time of 33:31 to place 55th among 119 runners. Kevin O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Springfield) was 61st by posting a mark of 33:56, while Darryl Osei (Glenolden, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) ran to a time of 34:20.

Tewahido Agonafir (Philadelphia, Pa./Academy at Palumbo) crossed the finish line in 36:08 and Abu Mattia (Yeadon, Pa./Penn Wood) completed the 8K run 24 seconds later. Christian Zita (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) posted a time of 42:53, while Jack Williams (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) notched a mark of 51:37.

On the women's side, Lauren Husain (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) was the top Brandywine runner as she placed 49th in the 77-runner field. Husain ran to a time of 35:51 during the 6K race, while Alicia Wesley (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) recorded a mark of 48:38.

Following a week off, Brandywine will run at the Penn State Scranton Invitational on Saturday, September 8.
