Brandywine Closes Out Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's track & field team completed competition at the two-day Widener Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Taufiq Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./World Communications Charter) competed in both the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints for the Lions.

At 100 meters, Brown ran his second-fastest time of the season at 11.51 seconds, finishing second in his eight-man heat and 23rd of 76 total competitors. Brown posted the top time in his four-competitor heat at 200 meters, running to a time of 23.88 seconds, a personal best mark. In the field of 80 sprinters from all three NCAA divisions, Brown placed 44th.

Brendan Cleary (Chadds Ford, Pa./Garnet Valley) claimed 28th place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after running to a time of 12:05.02. On Friday night, Cleary competed in the 10,000-meter run. His time of 39:51.62 was 19th-fastest.

Next Saturday, Brandywine will compete at the USCAA Championships on the campus of SUNY Delhi. The Lions finished fifth at the national championships during their inaugural season in 2017.
