Masi Tabbed PSUAC Hitter Of The Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Matt Masi (West Chester, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) has been named Penn State University Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Masi, who batted .500 (8-16) in five games last week, belted a pair of three-run home runs against PSUAC opponents, helping Brandywine to blowout victories over Penn State Schuylkill and Penn State Wilkes Barre.

The PSUAC leader in home runs with six, Masi drove in eight runs, while scoring five times. He upped his conference-leading extra-base hit total to 14 after recording a double and a triple in game two against Schuylkill in addition to his two home runs.

For the season, Masi is batting .426 with a team-best 23 hits, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored and five stolen bases. He owns five more extra bases hits (14) than singles (9) in 19 games.

Masi's six home runs are tied for the third-highest total among all players in the USCAA this spring. Only once during the last 10 seasons has a player from Brandywine hit as many as seven home runs - Tom Osenbach collected seven long balls in 2014. Three players from PSUAC schools have hit at least eight home runs in a season during that same time frame.

Brandywine (7-12, 3-1 PSUAC) is on the road Wednesday for a 4:00 pm game at Eastern University.
