Webb Named USCAA Hitter Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Shawn Webb (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) was selected as the Hitter of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday.

Webb batted .529 (9-17) during a 4-1 week for the Lions, hitting safely in four-of-five games. Four of Webb's nine hits went for extra bases, including his team-high third home run of the season in a 13-1 victory at Penn State Hazleton.

Webb produced a pair of three-hit games against Hazleton, while driving in seven runs and scoring five times overall. He went 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in game two of Thursday night's doubleheader and added three more hits and drove in a trio of runs during the nightcap on Sunday.

In 24 games this spring, Webb is batting .420 with 12 extra-base hits. In addition to leading the Lions in home runs, he tops the team in RBI (23) and is third in runs scored (22) and stolen bases (9). He has hit safely in 10 of the team's last 11 games.

Brandywine (16-8, 7-1 PSUAC) opens a conference series with Penn State Schuylkill on Thursday at 4:00 PM.
