UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Senior infielder Nick Wright (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) earned Player of the Year honors from the Penn State University Athletic Conference as the league announced its year-end baseball awards on Thursday. Wright was a First Team All-PSUAC selection along with Penn State Brandywine teammates Connor Thompson (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) and Shawn Webb (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie), while Evan Abegg (Commerce City, Colo./Prairie View) and Mike DeGirolamo (Frederick, Md./Frederick) received honorable mention laurels.

Wright has produced one of the top offensive seasons in team history, becoming the program's fourth conference player of the year and first since 2018, while claiming his fourth all-conference accolade.

In 38 games, Wright leads the team in hits, runs scored and RBI. He owns a PSUAC-leading 41 runs batted in, while standing second in the league in both hits (53) and runs scored (42). Sixteen of his hits have gone for extra bases, good for fifth in the conference.

In 13 appearances and nine starts, Thompson owns a 2.55 ERA, which stands fourth among PSUAC hurlers. His five complete games are tied for the league lead, while his five victories are tied for second in the conference. Thompson also stands fourth in the PSUAC with 43 strikeouts.

Webb ranks among the conference leaders in nearly every major offensive category. He is second to Wright in RBI with 35, while also sitting second with 17 extra-base hits and fifth in the league with a team-high 20 stolen bases.

In addition, Webb is Brandywine's leader with three home runs and is second on the team in batting average with a .411 mark. He also worked 20 bases on balls, posting a team-best .522 on-base percentage.

Webb closed out the regular season by hitting safely in 11 of the team's final 12 games. Overall this spring, Webb collected at least one hit in 29 games, while appearing in all 38 contests for the Lions.

Abegg also played in every game for Brandywine this spring as the team's primary third baseman. He collected 41 hits and is second on the team with 39 runs scored and 16 stolen bases. Eleven times, Abegg tallied at least two hits in a game, including four three-hit performances. He also contributed 26 RBI as he earned the second honorable mention selection in three seasons with the Lions.
