Brandywine Places Third At PSUAC Tournament

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine baseball team saw its season come to a close following third-place finish at the Penn State University Athletic Conference Tournament on Monday morning. The Lions were defeated by Penn State York by a score of 12-2 at Medlar Park.

Kyle Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa./Palisades) provided all of the offense for the Lions, producing a two-run single that scored Jimmy Carey (Springfield, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) and Shawn Webb (Drexel Hill, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) that tied the score at 2-2 during the bottom of the fourth.

York answered with an eight-run fifth inning to take control of the game and tacked on two more runs in the seventh to cap the scoring.

Brandywine's offense collected six singles, while Toby Skeans (Stevensville, Md./Kent Island) highlighted four pitchers by tossing a scoreless inning. Dan Nearey (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) went the first three inning, allowing two runs (one earned), while striking out two.

Brandywine's season came to a finish with a record of 26-14. The Lions' 26 victories are a single-season program record.
