Onyemachi, Rosenberry Lead Brandywine At Alvernia

READING, Pa. -- Nwabueze Onyemachi (Aldan, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) set a program record in the 200-meter sprint en route to winning his heat, while Alex Rosenberry (Etters, Pa./West Shore Christian Academy) won his section of the 800-meter race to highlight the Penn State Brandywine indoor track and field teams at Alvernia's PLEX Shootout on Saturday.

Onyemachi broke his own school mark, set two weeks ago, posting a time of 24.11 seconds to win his six-man heat by 14-hundredths of a second. Overall, he placed 23rd in the 74-man field. Onyemachi also ran the 60-meter sprint, taking 22nd in a time of 7.47 seconds.

Rosenberry topped his 13-runner section of the 800-meter run for the first of his two personal bests on Saturday. He ran the fourth-fastest time in school history, a mark of 2:14.51, to best Eastern University's Austin Segool by nearly one second, while placing 34th overall. During the one-mile run, Rosenberry sped to the second-best program mark to finish second in his section and 27th overall (4:59.42).

Luca D'Aprano (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) also set a pair of personal-best times during the 200-meter and 400-meter sprints. His 200-meter time clocked in at 27.07, while his 400-meter mark of 1:00.84 was the third-fastest in team history.

Tyler Lyon (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) competed in the shot put, tallying a long throw of 10.47 meters, to place 29th. His throw was second-longest in the team's record books, while Angel Asomugha (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) represented the Brandywine women's team, posting a personal-best mark of 3:11.52 at 800 meters, to claim 42nd.

Brandywine closes out its indoor season on Friday, February 21 in University Park at the Penn State Tune-Up.
