Brandywine Drops Matches At Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams dropped matches at Neumann University on Wednesday as the Lions dropped a pair of 7-2 decisions to the Knights.

Brandywine earned one singles victory and one doubles triumph during both the men's and women's matches.

On the women's side, Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) swept her No. 1 singles match by identical 6-1, 6-1 scores. Zahran also teamed with Jackie Capers (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) to win five points during their No. 1 doubles bout, but the duo fell 7-5.

Brandywine's second win came at second-flight doubles where Elizabeth Keeper (Bear, Del./Appoquinimink) and Madison Ferguson (Secane, Pa./Ridley) combined to claim a 7-6 win.

During men's action, Alexander Michael (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) and Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) earned an 8-4 victory during their No. 3 doubles match.

Joe Braud (Moseley, Va./Cosby) gave Brandywine its second point of the match by recording a 7-6, 6-3 top-flight singles win.

Michael won six points during his No. 2 singles match, but fell 6-3, 6-3, while Matteo Cousineau (Kennett Square, Pa./Unionville) and Mamidala both recorded seven points during their singles matches. Cousineau dropped a 7-6, 6-1 decision and Mamidala was topped 6-3, 6-4.

Brandywine hosts its first home match of the spring Sunday against Moravian beginning at noon.
