Brandywine Drops First Home Matches Of Spring To Moravian

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's and women's tennis teams were downed by Moravian during their first home matches of the spring as the Lion men fell 8-1 and the Brandywine women dropped a 9-0 decision on Sunday afternoon.

Aggam Khurana (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) earned a victory at No. 5 singles to lead Brandywine on the men's side. Khurana claimed his opening set 6-3 and after dropping set No. 2 by a 1-6 count, he bounced back to claim the third, 11-9.

Raj Mamidala (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) won seven games at No. 6 singles, but was defeated 7-5, 6-2. Mamidala combined with Alexander Michael (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) to claim six points during their third-flight doubles bout before falling 8-6. Michael claimed seven games in singles action as he was knocked off at No. 2, 6-2, 7-5.

For the women, Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was outlasted by Moravian's Leah Zolotareva during both sets of her No. 1 singles match, falling 7-6, 7-6.

Jackie Capers (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro) won five games during her second-flight singles match before the Greyhounds Ali Bender recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Brandywine is back in action Friday on the road at Lancaster Bible beginning at 3:30 PM.
