Knights Knock Off Brandywine

GLENSIDE, Pennsylvania -- Arcadia scored the first eight points and never relinquished the lead during an 81-55 victory over the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team on Tuesday night.

Cashae Hinton (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) drained a pair of free throws at the 16:29 mark to put Brandywine on the scoreboard and Lauren Munro (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) sank a layup 67 seconds later to make the score 10-7, but the Knights used a 17-4 run to retake control.

Arcadia led by as many as 22 points during the first half after a bucket by Dominique Hassinger.  Alyssa Abbonizio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) narrowed the deficit to 41-21 after 20 minutes, canning a jumper with five seconds left in the half.

Addy Crenny accounted for eight of Arcadia's first 10 points of the second half as the lead swelled to 27.

Abbonizio's three-point play with 7:14 to go brought Brandywine within 18, but the Lions would get no closer.

Munro was one-of-two Lions to reach double figures in scoring with 14 points, along Stacey MacArthur (Newtown Square, Pa./Delco Christian), who tallied 10. Abbonizio and Munro both pulled down four rebounds, while Hinton registered four assists and four steals and Jilly Gledhill (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) chipped in eight points.

Arcadia, which held a decisive edge on the glass by a 60-31 margin, received 16 points and 15 rebounds from Crenny. Maureen Fiocca led all scorers with 18 points, while Megan Fox narrowly missed a triple-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Brandywine (2-2, 2-0 PSUAC) returns home Sunday when it hosts Berkeley (N.Y.) at 1:00 pm.
