Lions Top Valley Forge 78-35 For Sixth-Straight Win

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- All 12 players scored for Penn State Brandywine as the Lions' women's basketball team used a balanced attack to defeat the University of Valley Forge 78-35 for its sixth consecutive victory on Monday night at the Brandywine Athletic Center.

Lauren Munro (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) led all scorers with 12 points, while Cashae Hinton (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) tallied 10 points and Alyssa Abbonizio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) added nine points.

Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), Myeisha Matos (Philadelphia, Pa./JW Hallahan Catholic) and Colleen Kennedy (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) all recorded eight points and Jilly Gledhill (Secane, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) registered seven.

Hinton dished out four assists and collected six steals, while Abbonizio pulled down six rebounds and Jilly Gledhill grabbed five boards.

Brandywine shot 42 percent from the field, while limiting the Patriots to 25 percent shooting and forcing 26 turnovers. The Lions netted 34 points off turnovers and outscored UVF 28-10 in the paint.

Brandywine scored the first eight points of the game and, after Valley Forge pulled to within four, used a 22-0 run to seize control. The Patriots were held scoreless for nearly eight minutes as the Lions' lead ballooned to 35-6.

Valley Forge netted the first three points of the second half, but Brandywine answered with 16-straight points to extend its edge to 40. Jilly Gledhill's three-pointer moved the Lions' lead to 43 points, its largest of the night, and provided the final margin at 78-35.

Bailey Mayforth scored 10 points to lead the Patriots, while Ariene Ohimor grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Brandywine (8-3, 3-0 PSUAC) closes out its four-game homestand Wednesday night against Eastern University at 6:00 pm.
