Brandywine Cross Country Runners Earn All-League Honors

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Three Penn State Brandywine cross country runners earned all-conference awards from the Penn State University Athletic Conference following the PSUAC Invitational on Saturday.

Earning first team honors was Jenaya Smith (Cohoes, N.Y./Cohoes), who placed third during the women's 6K race. Smith set a new personal-best time in 30:05.

John Finley (West Chester, Pa./Regina Luminis Academy) and Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) both recorded honorable mention laurels. Finley placed sixth during the men's 8K run, posting a mark of 30:52, while Ferry was the eighth woman to hit the finish line, doing so in a personal-best time of 35:10.

In addition, Finley and Smith received the John Fritz Sportsmanship Award from the PSUAC. Named after former PSUAC Commissioner John Fritz, the sportsmanship award is given to one player from each team in the league who best displays the core values of the league and sportsmanship to teammates and opponents throughout the season.

Finley and Smith will compete at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championships on Sunday, November 12 at Penn State Fayette.
