Women’s Basketball Makes 10th-Straight PSUAC Semifinal Appearance Saturday

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team will compete for a spot in the PSUAC Tournament championship game once again on Saturday when the fifth-seeded Lions battle top-seeded Penn State Beaver in the tournament semifinals at 2:30 pm.

Brandywine advanced to the semifinals for the 10th-straight year by virtue of an 89-75 victory at Penn State Fayette on Wednesday night. The Lions won their sixth game in a row, using an 18-1, fourth-quarter run to break open what had been a tightly-contested game throughout. Five Brandywine starters combined for 70 points and five players netted double-figure scoring overall.

All 20 of Lauren Munro's points came during the final 20 minutes, while Jessy Gledhill recorded the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Cashae Hinton added 17 points and six rebounds.

Brandywine owns a 5-4 record over the last nine seasons in semifinal games, including a victory over Beaver in 2012. Hinton is the only player remaining on either roster from that triumph, having recorded 13 points and three assists in the win.

Beaver claimed the teams' only meeting during the regular season this year, earning an 89-71 road win on December 5. During the last four years, Brandywine and Beaver have split six games with the road team claiming victory in four of those matchups.

Beaver finished the regular season with a 13-1 PSUAC record and earned the top seed in the conference tournament following a 66-65 victory over Hazleton on the final day of the regular season. Khalia Adams tops Beaver in scoring at 18.2 points per game.

The winner of Saturday afternoon's semifinal game will advance to the PSUAC Championship on Tuesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center. Their opponent will be the winner of Saturday's other semifinal matchup between No. 2 Hazleton and No. 3 Lehigh Valley.
