ASTON, Pa. – Following an 18-day holiday break, the Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team returned to the court at Neumann University, dropping a 79-56 decision to the Knights on Wednesday.
Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) posted a team-high 14 points, while Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) and Cheyenne Rivas (Thorndale, Pa./Collegium Charter) both tallied 10 points. Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds and added eight points.
Watson's three-pointer tied the score at 9-9 midway through the opening period, but the Knights netted the next 10 points and led 26-15 after one quarter. Brandywine trimmed the margin as low as seven points at 28-21 during the second quarter before Neumann produced the final nine points of the half. The Knights owned a 37-21 edge at the break.
Neumann outscored Brandywine 21-14 during the third quarter and the Lions could not overcome the deficit, despite an 11-0 run fueled by eight points from Rivas during the final stanza.
Brandywine (5-7, 4-3 PSUAC) plays its final non-conference game of the season Saturday at Ursinus beginning at 3:00 PM.
