Zahran Earns Second United East Weekly Selection

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Samma Zahran (Brookhaven, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was selected as the United East Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday.

Zahran, who was also named conference player of the week in September, went 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles last week.

On Tuesday, she earned a 6-0, 6-1 over Penn College's Ellen Buckley to help Brandywine to a 3-2 victory over the Wildcats. Four days later, Zahran eased to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Notre Dame of Maryland's Renee Rosales. She also coupled with Aerynne Mays (Easton, Pa./Wilson) during both matches to claim No. 1 doubles victories.

Zahran owns a 7-2 singles record as Brandywine's No. 1 singles player this season, including victories in 5-of-6 matches this spring. She is also 6-3 at No. 1 doubles during the 2024-25 campaign.

Brandywine hosts Cairn on Wednesday for Autism Awareness Day beginning at 4:00 PM.
