Amir Johnson Selected National Player Of The Week By USCAA
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman Amir Johnson (Philadelphia, Pa./Community Academy) was named Division II Men's Basketball Player of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson poured in a team-best 24 points during Brandywine's 88-73 setback at NCAA Division III Alvernia on Saturday night in the Lions' season opener. Seventeen of his 24 points came during a 10-minute span of the second half. He connected on 10-of-13 shots from the field, including 4-of-5 beyond the arc.
In 18 minutes during his first collegiate game, Johnson also added five rebounds, four of which came on the offensive glass.
Brandywine visits Delaware Valley tonight for a 7:00 pm game.
