Lions Fall In Regular-Season Finale

MEDIA, Pa. -- Jeremy McMunn scored 28 points as Penn State Brandywine closed out its men's basketball regular season with a 96-81 loss at the hands of Penn State Greater Allegheny on Monday afternoon.

GA shot 55 percent from the field and drained nine three-pointers, including six from McMunn, and committed just 10 turnovers.

Marcus Turner (Claymont, Del./Chichester) poured in a season-high 21 points for Brandywine, while Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) tallied 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds.

Naifes Smalls (Philadelphia, Pa./PE&T Charter) produced his second double-double since being inserted into the starting lineup five games ago, tallying 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Brandywine took its first lead of the game at the 8:57 mark of the first half behind a jumper from Terrance Quinn (Havertown, Pa./Radnor). The teams traded shots before Khari Hicks sank a triple, starting a 7-0 GA spurt to give the visitors at seven-point edge.

Brandywine narrowed the deficit to just one following a Smalls' jumper, but GA closed the first half with a pair of baskets and led by five at the break, 48-43, during a high-scoring opening 20 minutes.

McMunn scored 11 points over the first seven minutes of the second half as Greater Allegheny opened up an 11-point lead.

Brandywine faced an eight-point deficit after Kevin Zwolak (Lansdowne, Pa./Shipley School) knocked down a three, but McMunn answered with a triple of his own and GA would lead by no less than eight points the rest of the way.

Brandywine, which shot 44 percent from the field, but hit just 5-of-23 three-point attempts, closed out the regular season with a record of 6-19.
