Men's Basketball Falls At Lehigh Valley

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Cyrie Spencer (Sharon Hill, Pa./Academy Park) produced his second double-double in the last three games, but Penn State Brandywine fell short at Penn State Lehigh Valley after being downed 65-61 on Wednesday night.

Spencer totaled 11 points and 12 rebounds and has now scored in double figures in 10-straight games. Naifes Smalls (Philadelphia, Pa./PE&T Charter) added 13 points and Isaiah Lester (Morton, Pa./Ridley) tallied six points, five assists and four steals.

Smalls and Spencer combined for seven points during a 9-1 spurt that helped Brandywine establish a double-figure lead early in the first half and the Lions would lead by eight after 20 minutes.

However, the Lions recorded just two points over the opening 7:54 of the second half, allowing Lehigh Valley to climb back into the game.

Spencer netted seven consecutive points to push the Brandywine lead back to nine, but Lehigh Valley answered with an 11-2 run and took the lead for good following DeShawn Oyeniyi's jumper with 2:26 to play.

Jordan Young scored 19 points to lead Lehigh Valley, which shot 33 percent from the field. Brandywine connected on 36 percent of its field goal attempts and committed just 12 turnovers.

The Lions are back on the road Thursday at 7:00 pm against Valley Forge.
