Brandywine Earns Second-Straight Victory Over Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- For the second time in five days, the Penn State Brandywine men's tennis team defeated Gwynedd Mercy University as the Lions claimed a 7-2 victory Wednesday afternoon.

Brandywine, a 9-0 winner on Saturday, won all three doubles matches and secured the victory by earned four-of-six singles triumphs.

Tanuj Gaikwad (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) and Santiago Martinez (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Gran Bretana) blanked their opponents 9-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Luke DeAngelis (Downingtown, Pa./Henderson) and Walidad Ghuman (Drexel Hill, Pa./Upper Darby) earned an 8-7 (7-3) victory at No. 2 doubles.

Gaikwad, Martinez and DeAngelis all registered two victories Wednesday as the trio also claimed their singles matches. 

Gaikwad posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 1, while Martinez won his second-flight match 6-2, 7-6 and DeAngelis tallied a 6-3, 6-4 triumph during his fourth-flight bout.

Brandywine (2-3) plays its final road match of the season Saturday at Cabrini.
