Brandywine Rolls Through New Kensington 85-33

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine easily dispatched of Penn State New Kensington Friday night as the Lions cruised to a victory by a score of 85-33 in Penn State University Athletic Conference women's basketball action.

Brandywine scored the first 11 points of the game and never looked back. The Lions used a pair of Nikki Velez (Gloucester, N.J./Gloucester City) three-pointers during the final 1:31 of the first quarter to make the score 24-6, while Madison D'Ambrosio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) started the second quarter with a triple.

Leading 27-13 with 4:13 to go before the half, Brandywine erupted for 20-straight points, with 10 coming from Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro), as the Lions enjoyed a 32-point halftime edge.

The third quarter was much of the same for Brandywine, which scored the first 15 points of the second half, and the lead extended past 50 points late in the final stanza.

Floyd knocked down a pair of triples during the Lions' second half run and finished the night with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting (4-6 3PT). She added nine rebounds, three steals and three assists in 16 minutes of action, while Velez topped all players with 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting.

Dairayonna Stewart-Harold (New Castle, Del./William Penn) tacked on 15 points and three steals and Dana D'Ambrosio (Secane, Pa./Ridley) chipped in eight points. Hope Coacher (Ardmore, Pa./Haverford) tallied six points and seven boards, while Amelia Brooks (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a pair of shots. All 12 Lions netted at least two points overall.

Brandywine shot 47 percent from the field, held a 47-37 edge on the boards and poured in 36 points off 30 New Kensington turnovers. The Lions limited New Kensington to 22 percent shooting.

Brandywine (11-6, 8-3 PSUAC) will visit Penn State Wilkes-Barre Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm.
