Beaver Rallies To Knock Off Brandywine

MEDIA, Pennsylvania – Penn State Brandywine scored the first two goals, but Penn State Beaver answered with four-straight scores and held off Brandywine for a 6-3 PSUAC women's soccer triumph on Saturday afternoon.

Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) scored just 1:56 into the game after receiving a crossing feed from Arianna Segich (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City). Segich made the score 2-0 Brandywine when she sped behind the defense and sent a shot past Beaver keeper Brittany Zahn seven minutes later.

Beaver answered Brandywine's pair of scores with four consecutive goals, including two off the foot of Courtney Holden, to take the lead for good.

Encarnacion scored her fourth goal of the season just before halftime to make the score 4-3 at the break, but Brandywine would get no closer.

Edisa Bukuru added a pair of insurance goals during the final 45 minutes for Beaver.

Beaver attempted 11 of the match's 18 shots on goal. Lions' keeper Alyssa Abbonizio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) stopped five shots, while Zahn made four saves.

Brandywine (1-1, 1-1 PSUAC) looks to rebound Wednesday at home versus Penn State Schuylkill (4:00 pm).
