Encarnacion, Iannello Lead Brandywine To Third-Straight Win

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. -- Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) registered a hat trick, while Ami Iannello (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) scored twice as the Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team won for the third consecutive game, defeating the University of Valley Forge 5-2 on Tuesday.

Valley Forge netted the game's first goal when Kelsey Morrison found the back of the net during the seventh minute; however, Iannello struck at the 27:10 mark to tie the match.

Encarnacion took a feed from Nicole Doyle (West Chester, Pa./Downingtown West) and deposited her first of three scores late during the first half. She then doubled Brandywine's lead just seven minutes into the final stanza.

After Morrison scored again for the Patriots, Iannello answered with a goal to push Brandywine's lead back to two at the 73:41 mark. Encarnacion padded the lead, completing her hat trick just under six minutes later.

The Lions recorded 10 of the match's 11 shots during the final 45 minutes and outshot UVF 20-9 overall.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Abbonizio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield), named PSUAC Goalkeeper of the Week earlier Tuesday, earned her sixth win of the season by making three saves, while Makenzi Maun stopped 11 shots in net for the Patriots.

Brandywine continues its road trip Sunday against Penn State Greater Allegheny. The game will be played on the campus of Penn State York at noon.
