Brandywine Eases To Pair Of Triumphs

DUNMORE, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine softball team has won 11 of its last 12 games following a pair of lopsided victories at Penn State Scranton on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions won game one by a 23-0 score and took the nightcap by a 20-0 count.

Rebecca Sorrentino (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) threw the 10th no-hitter in team history and her fifth shutout of the spring, while adding a 4-for-4 performance at the plate with six RBI and three runs scored to lead Brandywine in game one. Sorrentino struck out eight of the 10 batters she faced. Her lone blemish was a leadoff walk to begin the third inning.

Brandywine wasted no time in taking over the game, scoring 12 first inning runs. The Lions tacked on 11 more scores one frame later.

Lianna DeDios (Elmwood Park, N.J./Memorial) was 4-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Farrell Everett (Wynnewood, Pa./Haverford) added three hits, three runs scored and two RBI. Destiny Brophy (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) produced two hits, scored four times and drove in three runs and Sarah Moore (New Holland, Pa./Pequea Valley) tallied two hits and two RBI. Alexia Galli (Glenolden, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara), Rachel Cherubini (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) and Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) all crossed home three times.
