Walleekendeh Powers Brandywine Past Valley Forge

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester) scored all six goals, setting a new school record, as the Lions overpowered the University of Valley Forge 6-2 in nonconference men's soccer action on Thursday evening.

Walleekendeh, who broke his own Brandywine record of five, which he has done three times, including in the season-opener two weeks ago, netted three goals during the first half and added three more during the final 45 minutes to up his season total to 13.

It took Walleekendeh just 1:52 to find the back of the net for the first time as he drove a shot past Patriot net minder Aaron Sierra after receiving a feed from Mike Usher (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan).

30 minutes later, he stole the ball from a UVF defender and sent a low shot into the back of the net for a 2-0 Brandywine lead. His third score came on a penalty kick at the 39:47, his first of two penalty-kick goals.

With Brandywine leading 3-1 in the second half, Walleekendeh pushed the lead back to three after heading in Trevin Jones' (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) corner kick. He finished off his record-setting performance with a goal during the 88th minute.

Brandywine tallied 18 shots on goal, compared to just five for Valley Forge. Joe Opdenaker (Lenni, Pa./The Christian Academy) earned his third win after stopping three shots, while Sierra posted 12 saves in the loss.

Brandywine (3-1, 1-0 PSUAC) returns to conference play Saturday with a home game against Penn State Scranton at 3:00 pm.
