Benvignati Named PSUAC Hitter Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Sam Benvignati (Aston, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) was named Penn State University Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week after leading the Penn State Brandywine offense during the first two weeks of the 2024 season.

Benvignati leads the Lions in nearly every offensive category as he has posted a .579 batting average with 11 hits, 14 runs batted in and 10 runs scored in eight games this season.

Benvignati homered twice during Brandywine's Spring Break trip to the RussMatt Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla., including an inside-the-park home run that completed the first cycle in program history. Benvignati hit for the cycle during the first four innings in a win over Alfred University on March 2. One day later, he collected a home run and four RBI against Penn State Fayette.

Benvignati has hit safely in six-of-eight games and owns a four-hit game versus Alfred and a 3-for-3 performance versus Elms.

Brandywine (3-5) visits Moravian Thursday for a 3:00 PM game.
