Govan Tabbed As PSUAC And USCAA Pitcher Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Michael Govan (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) was named Pitcher of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association and Penn State University Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

Govan entered Brandywine's PSUAC Tournament elimination game against Penn State York with one out in the first inning and the Lions facing a 5-0 deficit. He pitched the final 6.2 innings, facing the minimum number of hitters to help Brandywine advance in the tournament. Govan struck out two batters and allowed just one hit, which he quickly erased from the base paths via double play.

Govan earned his sixth victory of the season during Brandywine's 11-5 triumph over York. He ranks second on the team and tied for fourth in the PSUAC in wins, while striking out 31 batters in 46.1 innings pitched.

Govan has made 10 appearances on the mound this spring, including six starts, after posting a 2-2 record with two saves during his freshman season in 2023.

Brandywine (23-14) faces Penn State Mont Alto in another elimination game Sunday at 11:00 AM at Medlar Field in State College, Pa.
