Spina Named PSUAC Pitcher Of The Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine junior Danielle Spina (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) was selected as the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference's Pitcherof the Week the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Spina was the winning pitcher during both of Brandywine's victories in Vero Beach, Fla., last week, earning triumphs in the Lions' season opener against Norwich University and then defeating the same Cadet squad during the team's final game of the week.

She fired a complete game, allowing just three earned runs as Brandywine opened the season with a 10-4 victory on March 8th. Three days later, Spina tossed her third complete game of the week as the Lions defeated Norwich by a 6-3 count. She struck out one, while surrendering one earned run in 7.0 innings of work.

Brandywine opens a three-game road trip at Cabrini on Wednesday at 3:00 pm.
