Dellavecchio Selected PSUAC Hitter Of The Week; Spina Earns Second Pitching Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine claimed two more Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference weekly softball awards on Tuesday as Danielle Spina (Thornton, Pa./Garnet Valley) was named pitcher of the week for the second time this spring and Lindsey Dellavecchio (Ridley Park, Pa./Interboro) was selected as the hitter of the week.

Spina tossed a one-hit shutout against Valley Forge during her only appearance in the circle last week. After allowing a first-inning hit, Spina held the Patriots off the bases for the remainder of the game, retiring the final 11 batters she faced. She struck out eight in 5.0 innings of work.

Spina owns a 5-1 record this spring, the most victories among PSUAC pitchers, while ranking second in the league with 23 strikeouts. At the plate, she is batting .286 with three RBI after a five-hit performance during a sweep of Penn State Hazleton on Monday.

Dellavecchio collected three hits, including two doubles, in six at-bats during the Lions' pair of 16-0 victories over Valley Forge. She drove in three, while scoring five runs and stole one base.

In 13 games this season, Dellavecchio is batting .385 with 13 runs scored, six RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

Dellavecchio has a hit during each of Lions' last seven contests, all Brandywine victories, entering Thursday's doubleheader at Swarthmore.
