Brandywine Starts Fast; Tops Berks

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine ran out to a 25-0 lead and never looked back during a 57-43 non-conference women's basketball victory over Penn State Berks on Thursday night.

The Lions held Berks (0-6) scoreless for the first 9:27 and led 25-2 after one quarter. Despite going scoreless for nearly nine minutes and only connecting on two shots in the second stanza, Brandywine established a 29-11 lead at the break.

Brandywine pushed its lead as large as 21 points in the second half following a three-pointer from Lauren Munro (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) midway through the third quarter, before coasting to the 14-point victory.

Munro drained 8-of-9 shots from the field to lead all scorers with 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds, while also collecting three assists and three steals.

Cashae Hinton (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) added six rebounds, five assists and four steals and Melanie Kempf (Ocford, Pa./Oxford) tallied nine points and eight boards.

Brandywine, which limited Berks to 23 percent shooting and forced 23 turnovers, held a 65-53 rebounding advantage. McKenzie Adame and Cassidy Schultz both produced 14 points for Berks.

Brandywine (6-4, 2-2 PSUAC) will now have 23 days off for finals and holiday break before returning to the court Sunday, January 3 for a non-conference home game with St. Joseph's (VT) at 3:00 pm.
