Hinton Scores 1,000th Point In Rout

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Senior point guard Cashae Hinton (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) became the eighth player in Penn State Brandywine women's basketball history to record 1,000 career points as the Lions blasted Vaughn College (N.Y.) 88-14 on Sunday afternoon.

Hinton's 1,000th point came at the 5:50 mark of the first quarter when she grabbed a steal and went coast-to-coast, sinking a fast-break layup. She finished the contest with 15 points, giving her 1,009 in her career, while also dishing out four assists in 15 minutes of action.

Brandywine led 26-0 after 10 minutes and did not allow a point until the 8:35 mark of the second quarter. The Lions built a 52-4 lead at the break and were never tested during the second half.

Symantha Marrero (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) poured in a career-best 15 points and collected four steals, while Lauren Munro (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) added 10 points. Brandi James (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds, with 11 of those boards coming on the offensive end of the court.

Brandywine (8-5) returns to conference play Friday when it travels to Penn State DuBois at 6:00 pm.
