Lions Sweep Central Penn For First Victory

SUMMERDALE, Pennsylvania -- The Penn State-Brandywine volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-18) victory over Central Penn College, earning its first victory of the season on Tuesday night.

Four Lions (1-4) recorded at least four kills, led by junior Molly Nichols, who tallied 10. Freshman Melanie Kempf recorded seven, while classmate Nicole Poissant added five along with six digs.

Junior Miranda Biondi dished out 14 assists and recorded five aces, tied for the team lead with junior Kimberly Russo, who also notched a match-best 12 digs.

Janay Nelson tallied four kills and three digs to lead the Knights.

Penn State Brandywine returns to action on Saturday with a tri-match at Bryn Athyn beginning at 11:00 am. The Lions face Bryn Athyn in their opener followed by a 1:00 pm match with Baptist Bible.
