Lions Sweep Home PSUAC Tri-Match

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine swept Penn State York (25-11, 25-8, 25-12) and Penn State DuBois (25-6, 25-5, 25-1) in a home Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference volleyball tri-match on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Nicole Costa (Landsdowne, Pa./Upper Darby) led the team with eight kills versus York, while freshman Melanie Kempf (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) added six. Junior setter Miranda Biondi (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) handed out 17 assists and freshman Nicole Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) recorded 10 helpers. Biondi (9) and Poissant (4) combined for 13 of Brandywine's 18 service aces.

Junior Kimberly Russo (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) paced the Lions with eight digs, while Costa and Kempf both tallied one solo block.

Against DuBois, junior Kirsten Jerla (Springfield, Pa./Notre Dame) collected eight kills, while Poissant recorded seven kills and 15 assists. Biondi added 12 aces and junior Kelsi Wiest (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) registered six, while tying Russo for the team lead with five digs.

Brandywine (18-7, 13-2) closes out the regular season with a trip to Penn State Hazleton on Sunday at 2:00 pm.
