Brandywine Sweeps York In PSUAC Opener

YORK, Pennsylvania -- The Penn State Brandywine volleyball team opened PSUAC play with a convincing 3-0 triumph over Penn State York on Tuesday night. Set scores for the match were 25-19, 25-11, 25-14.

The Lions (4-4, 1-0 PSUAC), who have won four consecutive conference openers, received eight kills and five blocks from freshman Melanie Kempf. Junior Miranda Biondi collected 13 assists, five blocks (four solo) and tied for the team lead with classmate Kimberly Russo by accumulating four aces. As a team, Brandywine recorded 16 service aces.

Russo also added five digs, while sophomore Kelsey Zober paced the team with six digs and junior Nicole Costa totaled five kills and four blocks.

Brandywine returns home to face Penn State Mont Alto on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
