Costa And Poissant Claim PSUAC Volleyball Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania -- Following a 3-0 week, Penn State Brandywine junior Nicole Costa (Lansdowne, Pa./Upper Darby) earned the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week Award, while freshman Nicole Poissant (Aston, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) was named as the league's setter of the week on Tuesday.

Costa compiled 28 kills and 14 blocks (13 solo) during three matches, which included a pair of victories over NCAA Division III opponents. Against Baptist Bible on Saturday, Costa recorded 18 kills and a career-best eight blocks during the Lions' five-set triumph, both the second-highest, single-match totals by a PSUAC student-athlete this fall.

Costa leads the conference with 21 solo blocks, while ranking second in kills (55) in seven matches this fall.

Poissant handed out 77 assists (5.92 per set), including 35 against Bryn Athyn and 38 helpers, along with nine aces, versus Baptist Bible during the Lions' tri-match sweep. In addition, Poissant accumulated 11 kills, 22 digs and a pair of blocks.

She stands third in the PSUAC with 50 kills, while also ranking in the league's top 10 in assists (5th - 84), aces (4th - 20) and digs (7th -63).

The Lions open conference play Tuesday night at Penn State York with first serve set for 7:00 pm.
