WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Penn State Brandywine baseball team opened play at the RussMatt Invitational with a 10-0 defeat against Stockton University on Saturday night.
The Lions were limited to just one hit, a double off the bat of Nate Turner (Dover, Del./Dover), and three baserunners overall by a pair of Osprey pitchers.
Stockton scored single runs during each of the first two innings and took control with a four-run fourth inning. The Ospreys tacked on four more runs, all with two outs, in the seventh inning.
Ty Coccia (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East), one of three Brandywine pitchers to toe the rubber, tossed a pair of scoreless innings, recording one strikeout.
Brandywine (2-5) faces St. Joseph's (Maine) in a doubleheader Sunday at the Chain O'Lakes Complex beginning at 2:45 PM.
