CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine pushed its men's soccer winning streak to eight consecutive games following a 4-1, non-conference victory at Wilson College on Thursday afternoon.
Brandywine, which is undefeated in its last 24 games (22-0-2) dating back to last season, received goals from four different scorers, with three of those markers coming during the first 24 minutes of the match.
Chris Manful (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn) and Lex Smith (Centreville, Va./ASU Preparatory Academy) linked up for the game's opening goal as Manful found Smith in front at the 11:33 mark.
Just over five minutes later, Alexis Cordova Bernal (Oxford, Pa./Avon Grove) doubled the Lions' lead to 2-0 with his fourth goal of the year, while Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) made the count 3-0 off a feed from Kyle Reuter (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) during the 24th minute.
Wilson got on the board late in the first half, but Manful tacked on a fourth goal, his team-high 21st of the fall, with less than 30 minutes remaining to put the game away.
Brandywine held a 13-9 edge in shot attempts and yielded just two shots on goal. Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) made one stop to claim his seventh victory of the season.
Brandywine (10-0-2, 4-0 PSUAC) opens a two-game weekend in Pittsburgh against Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
