Kelly, Smith Sweep PSUAC Men’s Soccer Awards

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) and Lex Smith (Centreville, Va./ASU Preparatory Academy) both earned weekly men's soccer awards from the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Wednesday. Kelly was named defender of the week, while Smith earned offensive player of the week.

Kelly scored three times in four games last week, including the game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory at Penn State Greater Allegheny. He also led the Brandywine defense to three shutouts, while the team's backline yielded just three shots on goal across four games.

Smith assisted on Kelly's goal at Greater Allegheny and also netted three goals during the week. Smith scored the first of Brandywine's four goals in a win at Wilson and found the back of the net at Penn State Scranton and Thiel. He produced at least one point in all four games and owns a six-match scoring streak entering Saturday's matchup at Penn State Beaver.

Smith serves as Brandywine's second-leading scorer with eight goals and a team-high five assists through 14 matches, while Kelly has produced five goals. Kelly, a second team all-American center back in 2021, has also aided the Brandywine defense in producing a conference-best nine shutouts.

Brandywine (12-0-2, 5-0 PSUAC) visits rival Penn State Beaver at 2:00 PM on Saturday.
