MIDDLEPORT, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine baseball team concluded its regular season with a doubleheader split at Penn State Schuylkill on Monday afternoon. The Lions rolled 17-3 in game one, while Schuylkill blanked Brandywine 10-0 in game two.

Game One: Penn State Brandywine 17, Penn State Schuylkill 3

Brandywine scored early and often, putting a season-high 17 runs on the board to ease to a 14-run triumph in the opener.

Six of Brandywine's starters recorded multi-hit efforts, led by Kyle Oechsle (Coopersburg, Pa./Palisades) and Tyler Brooks (Oxford, Pa./Oxford), who both tallied three hits in five at-bats. Nick Razzano (South River, N.J./South River), Nick Wright (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Hayden Altimari (Dix Hills, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Cam Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) all produced two hits.

Oechsle delivered his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the first inning, and tallied three RBI overall. Wright and Razzano both added three runs batted in, while Wright and Brooks each stole a base.

Brandywine scored four first inning runs and pushed its lead to double figures by the fifth inning. The Lions padded their lead with seven more runs during the final frame.

In addition to Oechsle's two-run home run, Wright drove in a run with a base hit and Brooks scored on an error in the first. Wright added a two-run double one inning later to move the margin to 6-0.

Baughman and Razzano both produced run-scoring singles in the fifth, while Altimari scored via wild pitch, making the score 10-0.

Schuylkill got three unearned runs off Brandywine starter Connor Thompson (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) in the fifth, but the Lions tacked on seven more runs in the seventh. Razzano, Brooks, Oechsle and Conor Dowdell (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) all collected run-scoring singles, while Altimari doubled in two runs during the final stanza.

Thompson went the distance to earn his first collegiate victory. He struck out six batters and yielded just three unearned runs on four hits over 7.0 innings.

Game Two: Penn State Schuylkill 10, Penn State Brandywine 0

Schuylkill earned a split by holding Brandywine without a run in game two, winning 10-0.

The Lions' offense mustered five singles against Schuylkill pitcher Kyle Ferguson. Thompson, Wright, Dan Nearey (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Keaton Janiszewski (Dunedin, Fla./Keswick Christian) and Dalton Palmer (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) provided the base hits for Brandywine.

Schuylkill built a 4-0 lead after one inning and added four more runs in the third and two in the fourth.
