Banks Claims USCAA Award; Bush Earns Conference Weekly Honor

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine freshman Brianna Banks (Philadelphia, Pa./Parkway Center) was selected as the national women's soccer player of the week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, while classmate Emily Bush (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) was lauded as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday.

Banks, who also claimed her second PSUAC offensive player of the week honor, scored four times in a pair of Brandywine victories last week. She netted one goal against Penn State Mont Alto during a 5-1 triumph and added three goals and two assists in a 6-0 win at Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Banks, the PSUAC's leading scorer with 25 goals and 58 total points, has scored at least one goal in all 11 of the team's games this fall. Her hat trick against Greater Allegheny gave her five multi-goal efforts in eight games against PSUAC teams and nine goals in two matches against GA.

Bush completed her PSUAC-leading sixth shutout of the season against Greater Allegheny and stopped five-of-six shots faced overall last week.

Bush, who has played every minute of all 11 games this season in net, has allowed only nine goals for a PSUAC-best 0.82 goals-against average. She also leads the conference in save percentage (.830) and wins (10), while standing third nationally in wins, save percentage and goals-against average and second in shutouts.

Brandywine (10-1, 8-0 PSUAC) can lock up the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC Tournament with a win Thursday afternoon at Penn State Schuylkill. The Lions dealt Schuylkill its only loss, by a 6-0 count, on Oct. 4.
