USCAA Names Biondi National Setter Of The Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia -- The USCAA has selected Penn State Brandywine senior Miranda Biondi (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) as the national setter of the week the association announced on Tuesday.

Biondi, also a three-time PSUAC Setter of the Week this fall, averaged over 30 assists during three matches last week. She totaled a season-high 45 during a five-set defeat to Bryn Mawr and added 23 more helpers versus Moravian on Thursday.

Biondi assisted on 26 points during Brandywine's 3-0 sweep of Penn State Mont Alto Saturday afternoon, helping the Lions remain unbeaten in league play and take over the top spot in the conference standings, while also reaching the 1,800-assist mark for her career.

She also collected 23 digs and nine aces, adding to her PSUAC-leading total of 43.

A three-time all-PSUAC first team honoree, Biondi ranks among the top 20 nationally in assists (239), assists per set (6.64) and aces this fall.

Brandywine, ranked 13th in the first USCAA/AVCA poll released earlier Tuesday, visits Penn State Schuylkill on Wednesday for a pair of matches beginning at 5:00 pm.
