Biondi And Costa Claim Final PSUAC Weekly Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine seniors Miranda Biondi (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) and Nicole Costa (Lansdowne, Pa./Upper Darby) landed the final PSUAC volleyball weekly awards of the season as Biondi was named setter of the week and Costa was selected as player of the week.

Biondi's award was her fifth from the PSUAC during the seven-week season. She is also a two-time national setter of the week.

On Sunday, Biondi became the first-ever player at Brandywine to reach 2,000 career assists during a 3-0 victory over Penn State Greater Allegheny. She owns 2,036 helpers entering this weekend's PSUAC Tournament and is also the active career leader in aces (321) among players at all collegiate levels.

Overall for the week, Biondi totaled 113 assists (10.27 per set) along with 14 digs, 10 aces, five kills and four blocks, whle Costa tallied 26 kills and eight blocks in four matches.

Costa produced eight kills and three blocks to aid in Brandywine's sweep of seven-time defending conference champion Fayette as the Lions dealt Fayette its first 3-0 loss in a league match since 2007.

Costa, a two-time, all-PSUAC first team performer, owns 626 kills and 193 blocks during her four-year career.

Brandywine (19-3, 16-0 PSUAC), which did not drop a set in conference play this fall, holds the No. 1 seed for this weekend's PSUAC Tournament. The Lions have earned a bye to the semifinals, which begin Saturday against either No. 4 Penn State Beaver or No. 5 Penn State New Kensington at 1:00 pm at Rec Hall in State College.
