Biondi Earns Academic All-Area Recognition From Philadelphia Inquirer

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine senior setter Miranda Biondi (Newtown Square, Pa./Marple Newtown) received academic all-area accolades from the Philadelphia Inquirer on Wednesday, one of seven volleyball student-athletes from Philadelphia's 30 area institutions to earn the award.

Biondi is the second Brandywine fall athlete to be honored by the newspaper this week, joining men's soccer senior Manny Amine.

The award caps off a standout senior campaign for Biondi, who became Brandywine's first-ever USCAA Student-Athlete of the Year in any sport and the volleyball program's first all-American when she was selected to the second team last month. Also a USCAA National Academic Team selection, Biondi was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team in 2014 and is a three-time PSUAC All-Academic Team honoree.

A human development and family studies major who owns a 3.58 grade-point average, Biondi concluded her four-year career on the volleyball court as the Lions' all-time leader in assists (2,169) and aces (327).

The four-time First Team All-PSUAC selection helped lead Brandywine to its first-ever PSUAC championship this fall as the Lions won all 16 regular-season conference matches in dominant fashion before topping Penn State Fayette 3-1 in the PSUAC title game.
