Lions Take Down Schuylkill 11-1

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine bounced back from Wednesday's loss with an emphatic 11-1 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference men's soccer victory over Penn State Schuylkill on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester) led the offensive onslaught by recording five goals and one assist for 11 points, while classmate Manny Weldemicael (Philadelphia, Pa./Wyoming Park) and freshman Patrick O'Neill (Morton, Pa./Ridley) both tallied two goals and one helper.

Senior Brad Jule (Chadds Ford, Pa./Salesianum) and freshman Patrick Lutes (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) accounted for the final two Lion goals.

Weldelmicael had a hand in the first three Lion goals, scoring two and assisting on Lutes' tally. He netted his third score of the first half at the 32:16 mark and O'Neill scored just 17 seconds later as Brandywine built a 6-1 halftime lead.

Walleekendeh added two more goals during the first 30 minutes of the second half and O'Neill capped the scoring with a header off a Weldemicael feed with eight minutes left in regulation.

Brandywine outshot Schuylkill 41-6 and attempted 10 of the match's 12 corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper William Scott-Norris (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) stopped five shots for Brandywine.

Brandywine (8-7, 7-0 PSUAC) travels to Penn State York on Wednesday for a 4:00 pm match that will decide the PSUAC regular season championship. Both teams are unbeaten in league play.
