Lions Trounce Valley Forge On Senior Day

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine sent its men's soccer senior class out in style as it downed the University of Valley Forge 10-2 on Senior Day Sunday afternoon.

Senior Brad Jule (Chadds Ford, Pa./Salesianum) recorded a six-point day with a goal and four assists, while sophomore Bill Walleekendeh (Chester, Pa./Chester) tallied a five-goal performance.

Walleekendeh scored all five Brandywine goals during the first half as the Lions built a 5-2 lead. Brandywine went a head 2-0 before UVF tied the match in the 28th minute. Walleekendeh struck for three goals during the final 13 minutes to put Brandywine back in front.

The second half belonged to the Lions as they collected five unanswered goals. Sophomore Nicholas Abhulimen (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester) made the score 6-2 before junior Manny Weldemicael (Philadelphia, Pa./Wyoming Park) and freshman Patrick Lutes (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) tacked on two more.

Jule and fellow senior Sam Houlette (Chester Spring, Pa./Salesianum) capped the scoring, with Houlette's goal coming on a penalty kick in the 79th minute.

Brandywine outshot Valley Forge 30-7 and recorded 13 of the match's 16 corner kicks.

Brandywine, which closed out the regular season with a record of 10-7 overall and was unblemished in PSUAC play at 8-0, has earned a bye through the PSUAC Tournament quarterfinals and will host a semifinal match against an opponent that is still to be determined on Saturday, October 25.
