Encarnacion, Harvey Claim Conference Softball Weekly Awards

MEDIA, Pa. --  Penn State Brandywine pitcher Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) and catcher Steph Harvey (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) swept the Penn State University Athletic Conference weekly softball awards as Encarnacion was named pitcher of the week and Harvey claimed hitter of the week.

Encarnacion was the winning pitcher in both of Brandywine's games last week, claiming her second and third victories of the season on Sunday against Penn State Schuylkill.

In game one, Encarnacion fired a two-hit shutout, striking out three batters over five innings of work. She held Schuylkill hitless over the first three innings during her second career shutout.

Encarnacion then pitched the final two frames of game two as Brandywine rallied from two runs down in the seventh inning to win 12-11.

Harvey got the seventh-inning rally started with an RBI single, giving her five runs batted in on the day. She collected five hits in two games, including a pair of doubles in game one.

In 16 games this spring, Harvey ranks third on the team with a .379 batting average and has driven in 13 runs, while scoring 11.

Brandywine hosts Valley Forge on Wednesday afternoon at Maple Zone at 3:00 pm.
