Lions Fall At Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine softball team dropped a pair of non-conference games at Arcadia on Tuesday afternoon by scores of 8-0 and 5-2.

The Lions (12-14, 7-1 PSUAC) were held hitless during a six-inning game one. Katie DeStefano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) and Katy Steffen (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) both reached base following Arcadia errors to open the third inning, but Knights pitcher Kayla Resh retired the next three batters in order to end the threat.

Julia Allman (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) was the only other batter to reach base for Brandywine during the game, working a sixth-inning walk.

Brandywine took an early 2-0 lead in the nightcap, scoring a pair of first inning runs. Arianna Segich (Ocean City, N.J./Ocean City) led off with a bunt single and moved to second on Allman's base hit. Three batters later, Steph Harvey (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) singled in Segich. An error then allowed Allman to score the Lions' second run.

However, Arcadia answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and then took the lead in the second as Jackie Bilotti doubled home a pair of runs. The Knights added a pair of unearned insurance runs during the fourth inning to provide for the final margin.

Allman, Harvey and Julie Foeldes (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) all recorded two hits in game two.

Brandywine is back on the road Thursday at Rosemont beginning at 3:00 pm.
