Brandywine Finishes Home Slate With Routs

MEDIA, Pennsylvania -- Penn State Brandywine scored in every inning of both games and drubbed Penn State Fayette by scores of 15-0 and 17-1 on Sunday afternoon during the Lions' final home games of the season.

Robyn Gannon (Landsowne, Pa./Archbishop Prendergast) went 3-for-3 in game one and added three more hits in the nightcap, while Katy Steffen (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) drove in eight runs and Steph Harvey (Berlin, N.Y./Eastern Regional) added six RBI.

Ashlee Stritzinger (Wilmington, Del./Concord) collected two hits and three RBI in game one, while Gannon, Maddie Malfara (Ardsley, Pa./Abington) and Julia Allman (Broomall, Pa./Marple Newtown) all crossed home three times.

Run-scoring singles from Harvey, Gannon and Stritzinger provided Brandywine with a 4-0 lead after one inning of game one.

Steffen drove a grand slam over the fence as part of a five-run second before Brandywine closed out Fayette with six runs in the third.

Gannon tallied four RBI in game two and three runs scored, while Steffen recorded three RBI and scored three times and Stritzinger added two hits and two RBI.

A two-run double by Stritzinger and run-scoring single by Gannon helped Brandywine to a 4-0 lead after one inning. The Lions added two more in the second before Harvey and Steffen both drove in runs with doubles in the third.

Harvey's bases-clearing double one frame later ended the game after four innings.

Katie DeStefano (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) threw the ninth shutout of her two-year career and struck out four in game one, while Olivia Encarnacion (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) improved to 9-5 this spring after striking out a pair in game two.

Brandywine (18-16, 11-1 PSUAC) finishes out the regular season Tuesday at Penn State Scranton.
