MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Mont Alto handed Penn State Brandywine its first Penn State University Athletic Conference women's soccer defeat by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Nicole Jones sent Grace Lochner to goal on a breakaway for the visitors' first goal of the day at the 33:09 mark. Mont Alto added a second marker from Alexis Mariano with 1:04 to play in the first half.
Brandywine's top scoring chance came early in the first half as Jess James' (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) cross found Roberta Gonzalez (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) in front, but the ball was cleared away by a Mont Alto defender.
James accounted for two of Brandywine's four shots, while Jaylin Berrios (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) put the Lions' lone shot on target.
The game was tight defensively for both team and featured just 10 shot attempts overall. Brandywine goalkeeper Demareste Dorvilma (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) stopped three shots, while playing all 90 minutes in net.
Brandywine (4-4-1, 3-1 PSUAC) will have a week off before returning to action October 11 at Penn State Schuylkill (4:00 PM).
